She is mindful of the long term impact that her actions might have. In the sense of teaching herself to act and be a certain way. "If I don't do things because I am afraid, and I stay with the familiar, the long term impact of that is that I never grow." Our guest sees the inner critic as a helpful voice that helps us manage our expectations of ourselves. It tries to make sure that we don't try something we'd fail at to prevent us from not trying it ever again. She advices us to embrace that voice and thank it for protecting us. But recognize sometimes that you shouldn't be listening because there are other parts speaking that may know better.
